Layered Landscapes Supply List


Equipment and Notions:

Kit Fee: $25 (Payable in Class.

Personal pressing mat (helpful but not necessary for the in-person class)

Mini iron

Something to protect your pressing mat from spray starch (an old pillowcase works well)

Spray starch or Best Press

Small paintbrush for spreading spray starch onto your fabric

Scotch tape

Flat Flower Head Pins

Paper and fabric scissors

Embroidery scissors (optional)

Sewer’s awl (or a large seam ripper)

Pencil and eraser

Aleene’s Tacky Glue (Original) or Elmer’s glue (liquid – not a glue stick) *

Tweezers (optional)

9” x 9” piece of your favorite fusible

Fabric:

2-4 white fabrics for swans and snow (each piece about 5” x 5”)

5-7 blue fabrics for mountain (each piece about 9” x 9”)

1-2 light blue fabrics for snow in shadow (each piece about 3” x 3”)

1 green fabric for a hill (about 14” x 4”)

Each Kit Includes:

Swan Lake pattern

One 3/4” wide black bias strip

1 mountain copied onto freezer paper

Copies of the parts of the pattern we will be working on in class

One piece of freezer paper 18”x 12”

Glue spreader

Pointy stick

In-class use of paint for swans’ beaks

Supplies needed to finish the quilt

Sky fabric: 1/8 yard cuts of 10 blue fabrics in a gradation from light to dark

Sunset fabric: a total of 5 long narrow pieces of pink and orange fabrics (18” is the longest you’ll need)

Mountain fabric: at least 8 different fat eighths of medium and dark blue fabrics

Shadow fabric: 2-4 small light blue fabrics for the snow in shadow

Snow and swan fabric: 2-4 small white fabrics

Hill fabric: ½ yard for the biggest hill, ¼ yard for the next biggest hill, 2 fat quarters and a small piece for the remaining hills

Tree fabric: at least 6 different green fat eighths for the trees and 1 fat eighth for the trunks

Shoreline fabric: 1 long narrow piece of brown fabric (this can be pieced and needs to total 51” in length)Water fabric: 1 ½ yards if you don’t want a seam in the middle or ¾ yards if you do

Ripple fabric: a total of 5-7 long narrow pieces of blue and purple fabrics (18” is the longest you’ll need)

Outline fabric: 1/2 yard of solid black fabric that will be cut on the bias *

Guild Provides:

1 table for teacher’s use

1 iron for every 5 students

Electrical cords and extensions, multiple-outlet strip, adaptors, lighting (if necessary)

1 table for every two students
